I'd love to hear how others approach this, the client is about two weeks postpartum and received a blood transfusion shortly after delivery due to hemorrhaging. she's now feeling a bit more stable and is looking into postpartum massage to help with recovery and grounding, I've worked with postpartum clients before, but not immediately following a transfusion, so I want to be especially mindful here coz she's still experiencing some fatigue, and I'm assuming her iron levels are still rebuilding. I'd like to support her healing, but also make sure I'm not placing too much demand on her system or missing any contraindications.
Do I have have modify my techniques and if yes how much modification do I have to take note of, appreciate your thoughts

You're right to tread carefully here. I guess it's best if you keep it light, focus on grounding and lymphatic support, and definitely skip anything deep until her energy stabilizes more.

Look, postpartum massage isn't just spa fluff, it's clinical care. After a transfusion and hemorrhage, you better be modifying everything. If you're unsure about contraindications, step back until her doctor gives the all-clear...no guesswork.

I think you could consult with her doctor and then stick with light, grounding techniques and maybe keep the sessions shorter

As someone who works with postpartum mums, I’d say the biggest thing after a transfusion is pacing and light pressure. Her body is still replenishing blood volume and iron, so anything too stimulating can increase fatigue. I’ve seen therapists at PNSG (Post Natal Massage Singapore) mention that they start extremely gently for cases with anemia or blood loss—mostly grounding strokes, diaphragmatic breathing, and lighter lymphatic work rather than deep tissue.
Of course, medical clearance is a must before any session.
