I was recently diagnost with a Carpel Tunnel syndrome, perks of freelancing and I read somewhere that massage helps. Is this true? If so, what kind of a massage and can I massage the arm myself or do I need to go to a pro?

Sorry to hear about getting diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Massage can be a helpful complementary therapy for some people, and a
gentle Swedish massage, myofascial release, or even some trigger point therapy in the forearm can be beneficial.
While self-massage can offer some temporary relief and increase your awareness of muscle tension, it's better to see a professional massage therapist who has experience with repetitive strain injuries, like in your case.
They can apply techniques more effectively and safely than you might be able to on your own.
It's also a good idea to discuss any new therapies with your doctor or hand specialist to ensure it's appropriate for your specific condition.

Yes, massage helps!
It can help reduce pain, numbness, tingling and improve mobility by easing pressure on the median nerve and loosening tight muscles/fascia in your wrist and forearm.
and can you do it yourself?
ummm yep, self massage can be effective for daily relief and maintenance! There are specific techniques you can learn

Thanks for the helpful tips guys. I wouldn't mind going to a pro for this, but I'd like to do some of the massages myself. Do you have any experience with this or can point me in the right direction?
